The event will feature many experts from the worldwide chess community introducing concepts and approaches to using chess as a rehabilitation tool for incarcerated people.

The first in-person Chess for Freedom Conference features many experts from the worldwide chess community.

FIDE officials met the inmates of the Penitentiary Home in Belgrade (Padinska Skela) during their visit to Serbia.

The conference will take place on May 17-20, 2023 in Chicago, USA.

It aims to spread the practice of chess through training inmates and prisons officials, first phase of the Special Maximum Security Penitentiary Establishment.

Medalists were congratulated by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich who attended the Penitentiary Home in Belgrade (Padinska Skela) during his visit to Serbia.
